About Us

The ICT Centre activity of Surfcity Networks started in 1998 as a small business venture in Lagos. Internet Service Providers were few and bandwidth was dial-up and expensive.

Our first real ICT Centre/ICT Centre was established in Wuse Zone 5 at the edge of the popular Wuse Market.

It was your typical ICT Centre, with all the attributes and configuration of early ICT Centres that was high in setup cost, high in maintenance cost, high in expenditure, very difficult to administer, very problematic and consequently with a higher possibility of failure.

It was with this first ICT Centre that the silent and gradual development of the company and its subsequent internet ICT Centre solutions and products began.

Our Second ICT Centre, opened three years later with a lot of new changes other ICT Centres didn’t have. It became a far better ICT Centre than the first one in terms of Setup Cost, expenditure and maintenance cost. We deployed laptop base as CPU in order to reduce power consumption. This achieved some reduction in maintenance cost though it was not low enough to start introducing it to other Owners.

Our third ICT Centre, opened a year after the second one. We did not use Laptop Form factor here. Instead, we used extremly low energy client systems, that required we change the entire architecture of our network. This was the beginning of our research into the effect of very low energy systems on our already stable Centres.

Invariably, this research led us to the exact type of low powered equipment to use that will enhance our already stable model. Today, these are the categories of equipment we use.

To date we have deployed over 20 of these Centres to  Ilorin, Ibadan, Owo, Abuja, Akute and Lagos. Our model is being used to restructure many more ICT Centres.

In recent times we have remodeled the Centre such that power consumption is further reduced. As a result of this the cost of Solar Power to use to power it is now very affordable.

We also developed a complete monitoring system for the ICT Centres.
